What is CBCT Imaging?

CBCT is an acronym for: Cone Beam Computed Tomography. The CBCT systems used by dental professionals rotate around the patient, capturing data using a cone-shaped X-ray beam. These data are used to reconstruct a three-dimensional (3D) image of the following regions of the patient’s anatomy: dental (teeth); oral and maxillofacial region (mouth, jaw, and neck); and ears, nose, and throat (ENT).

For endodontic treatment, though, we employ this amazing technology only to obtain exceptionally high-quality 3D images of the individual tooth being treated. Such images make it possible for the endodontist to detect hidden fractures or other problems with a tooth that simply cannot be seen any other way. Unrelated to endodontics, we also offer full mouth 3D imaging as a service to general dentists, orthodontists and oral surgeons.
